Description
Delicious, sticky, sweet, homemade biscuit donuts.
Ingredients
Flavors:
topping 1
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon
Topping 2
3 Tbsp toasted almonds
1 1/2 Tbsp shredded coconut
Topping 3
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
Topping 4
1 cup powdered sugar
2–4 tsp of water (add a little at a time so it doesn’t become runny)
1 tsp vanilla
Making the Donuts:
2 cans of biscuits (Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits)
1 Thimble (Tool to use like a cookie cutter to make the donut hole)
1 skillet with straight sides
2 cups of coconut oil (Avocado oil was too heavy and didn’t cook them all the way through)
2 baking sheets with parchment paper (1 for placement after cooking, 1 for placement after decorating).
Instructions
- Prepare all the donut flavors. I like to use large flat bowls to mix each of the flavors, in order to have room to coat them.
- Heat the coconut oil until it’s hot and ready (frying temperature).
- In the mean time while the oil is heating, lay each of the donuts out on a cutting board.
- Use the thimble to cut out the center of the biscuit. Save the donut holes to cook and decorate.
- Add each donut to the oil, cooking 4 at a time.
- Cook until light golden brown on one side, then flip to cook the other side.
- Take each donut out of the oil with a slotted spatula, onto the parchment covered baking sheet.
- Once they are finished cooking, decorate them with whichever flavors you like.
- Roll each donut in Cinnamon and sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla glaze, or vanilla glaze with crushed toasted almonds and shredded coconut.
