Description

Delicious, sticky, sweet, homemade biscuit donuts.

Ingredients

Scale

Flavors:

topping 1

1/2 cup sugar

2 Tbsp cinnamon

Topping 2

3 Tbsp toasted almonds

1 1/2 Tbsp shredded coconut

Topping 3

1/2 cup of powdered sugar

Topping 4

1 cup powdered sugar

24 tsp of water (add a little at a time so it doesn’t become runny)

1 tsp vanilla

Making the Donuts:

2 cans of biscuits (Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits)

1 Thimble (Tool to use like a cookie cutter to make the donut hole)

1 skillet with straight sides

2 cups of coconut oil (Avocado oil was too heavy and didn’t cook them all the way through)

2 baking sheets with parchment paper (1 for placement after cooking, 1 for placement after decorating).

Instructions

  1. Prepare all the donut flavors. I like to use large flat bowls to mix each of the flavors, in order to have room to coat them.
  2. Heat the coconut oil until it’s hot and ready (frying temperature).
  3. In the mean time while the oil is heating, lay each of the donuts out on a cutting board.
  4. Use the thimble to cut out the center of the biscuit. Save the donut holes to cook and decorate.
  5. Add each donut to the oil, cooking 4 at a time.
  6. Cook until light golden brown on one side, then flip to cook the other side.
  7. Take each donut out of the oil with a slotted spatula, onto the parchment covered baking sheet.
  8. Once they are finished cooking, decorate them with whichever flavors you like.
  9. Roll each donut in Cinnamon and sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla glaze, or vanilla glaze with crushed toasted almonds and shredded coconut.
