This savory steak salad, is a dinner favorite, I little something for everyone.
Ok so today, I want to talk about one of my absolute favorite go-to meals, and it’s always a favorite dish in our house, and believe it or not, it’s a salad. Trust me, this isn’t your average salad; it’s a flavor-packed feast that’s perfect for any meal, whether it’s lunch, dinner, or even a fancy brunch.
So, let’s dive into what makes this salad so special. First off the steak, I used a skirt steak, it’s loaded with flavor but thin so it cooks quickly. I seasoned with salt, Slap Ya Mama, and Tajin seasoning. The beauty of steak salad is that you can cook the steak to your preferred doneness—rare, medium, or well-done, it’s all good. Once it’s finished cooking, remove from grill place on cutting board, let sit for 10-20 minutes before you slice it. The resting and cooling helps hold the juices so it stays nice moist, and the cooling helps to not wilt your lettuce.
Now, the greens. I usually go for a mix of baby leaves, but you can certainly use whatever you have available. Arugula is a great option and brings this fantastic peppery bite, while spinach adds a mild, fresh flavor. Toss in some grape or cherry tomatoes for a burst of sweetness, a few slices of bell peppers and some radishes for that tangy crunch.
To really amp up the flavor, I add crumbled blue cheese or feta. It adds this creamy, tangy element that pairs beautifully with the steak. Sometimes if I’m feeling extra fancy, some avocado slices make an appearance—they’re like buttery perfection in every bite.
Of course, a salad isn’t complete without a killer dressing. I usually go for a balsamic vinaigrette. It’s the perfect mix of tangy and sweet, tying all the flavors together.
What I love most about this savory steak salad is how versatile it is. You can customize it to your heart’s content, and it never disappoints. Plus, it’s a great way to enjoy a steak dinner without feeling too weighed down. Give it a try next time you want something deliciously different! It’s a requested favorite in our house, and it’s quick and easy to make.
